This expansion board is specially built to enable precise and convenient control of DC motors using the Micro:bit board, a smart microcontroller based on the ARM architecture designed by the BBC. The Micro:bit board supports Microsoft’s PXT graphical programming interface, allowing programming from any operating system – Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and more – without the need to install additional compilers.
The expansion board integrates the DRV8833CPWP driver chip, which is capable of providing up to 700mA of current to each motor, and offers four control modes: clockwise, counterclockwise, start and stop. Support for PWM (pulse width modulation) reaches high frequencies of up to 100 kHz – ideal for smooth and precise control of motors.
In addition, the board includes:
Built-in 3.3V and 5V voltage regulators – for broad support for sensors and other components.
Serial communication interface – for connecting Bluetooth modules or other wireless communication.
Three 3-pin ports – for direct connection of additional sensors.
Motor connections A1, A2, B1, B2 controlled via pins P13, P12, P15 and P16 of the Micro:bit board.
