Elecfreaks Octopus – Digital Flame Sensor for Microbit
An electronic module based on an infrared (IR) sensor that produces a digital output (0/1) to detect a flame or fire source. Particularly suitable for educational projects in the STEM field, such as simulations of fire detection systems, smart robots or warning systems. The sensor offers fast response, high sensitivity and the ability to adjust the sensitivity level using a built-in potentiometer.

The sensor is based on an infrared sensor that is particularly sensitive to flame sources – methane, propane, and more.

Includes a blue digital potentiometer for precise calibration of the activation threshold.

Simple Plug-and-Play connection
3-pin connection interface (Signal / VCC / GND), compatible with Microbit or Octopus:bit platform.

Flexible working range
Operating voltage: 3V–5.5V, suitable for standard Microbit systems.

Smart status display in the software
When there is no fire, the result is an output of 0 accompanied by a happy icon (smile); if there is fire, other icons are displayed according to the conditions.

Useful safety warning
Working temperature range: –25°C to 85°C. It is important to maintain a certain distance from the flame to avoid damaging the sensor.
