Analogue Smoke and Gas Sensor for Microbit (MQ-2) – Elecfreaks Octopus
Elecfreaks Octopus – Analog Smoke and Gas Sensor (MQ-2) for Microbit
A smoke sensor module in the Octopus design based on the MQ-2 component, which detects a variety of flammable gases (e.g. LPG, propane, methane, alcohol, hydrogen) as well as smoke, achieving fast response and high sensitivity. The sensitivity can be calibrated using a built-in potentiometer.
Main Features
Multi-purpose gas and smoke detection: Suitable for detecting a wide range of flammable gases and smoke resins — including LPG, i-butane, propane, methane, alcohol, hydrogen, and smoke.
High sensitivity and fast response: Features very high sensitivity, with a fast response time—a simple module for direct application.
Easy calibration using a potentiometer: Allows manual adjustment of the sensor sensitivity according to the project’s needs.
Convenient Plug-and-Play interface: Comes with a standard GVS (Signal, VCC, GND) connection — can be directly connected to platforms such as Micro:bit or Octopus:bit.
Technical conditions: 5V operating voltage, analog interface, compact dimensions of about 38 × 27mm, stable and durable design.
Quick start in the software: It is recommended to warm up the sensor for about 10 minutes before reading data to achieve stability — the analog value reading increases with the concentration of the sensor in the environment.
