Alcohol sensor (MQ-3) analog for Microbit – Elecfreaks Octopus

Elecfreaks Octopus – Alcohol Sensor (MQ-3) Analog for Microbit Electronic module based on the MQ-3 sensor — highly sensitive to alcohol vapor, and displays a linear analog output that varies depending on the concentration of the gas in the air. Suitable for direct connection to the Micro:bit or the Octopus:bit platform, with fast responsiveness, long service life and a simple user interface.

The working mechanism of the MQ-3
The sensor is manufactured with a zinc oxide (SnO₂) sensing layer: when exposed to alcohol vapor, its conductivity increases, while in clean air it is lower.

Simple Plug-and-Play interface
Includes GVS (Signal, VCC, GND) connection, easy to connect to the Octopus:bit or Micro:bit platform.

Response and durability
Operates at a working current of 5V, with fast response and high sensitivity to alcohol vapor, and with high durability over time.

Common applications
Suitable for systems for detecting and measuring alcohol concentration, such as in drunk driving detection or portable alcohol detectors.

Recommended initial operation
The sensor should be preheated for a few minutes until the reading is stable. The analog output reading value will increase as the alcohol concentration increases.
